The 4th of July at The Beach

Davey and Paula opened their beach house up to the nutty O"Keefe crew again this year for the fourth of July. The weather managed to remain tolerable with no rain and comfortable temperatures. Here is a collection of some photos from the event.

Here is the cupcake bouquet that I brought to Davey's

From the left, Kevin, Jan, Maggi, Lily, Torrin

I am apparently not making Brady (Todd and Rosie's son) very happy.

 What can I say?

Brady seems comfortable enough with Kevin.

I think that is Todd and Davey.

The Sandbox

For Carson's 4th birthday we refurbished the sandbox. We got new sand and put rubber mulch around the outside so Carson would not get slivers in his little feet.

We got more than enough sand for the box. We decided on golf course sand because it is nice and white and packed better.

Kevin helped shovel the sand in the box.

Sandie and Emma supervised the project.

I could not believe how much Carson and his friends loved the new sand!

Happy Birthday Carson!!!!

More Fun

There is nothing like a spontaneous bon fire party. The weather was better than the weatherman predicted to we took advantage of the rain free night and had a bonfire.

Pat and Jayson with Jordan, Torrin and Jacob hitting wiffle balls.

Sippy cup for Grandma.

Babysitting the boys. This is their fort.

Jacob is pretty good with Jordan's bow and arrow.

He hit the tree!

Jake is a good big brother helping Carson get his tractor trailer hooked up.

Celebrating Summer in Washington

I love summer! It means lots of outdoor fun. I am going to celebrate my last summer here with photos of all things outdoors. This is all I have for now but will try to remember to photograph more often so I can document all the fun we have together as a family outside the boxes we live in.

Nothing like a bon fire to start the summer.

Bike riding and trail walking

Hunting for Easter eggs outside is way better than in the house!

Gardening...I keep trying.

And then there is golf...

And clear warm nights.

More to come. Check back later.

Bathroom Remodel Phase 3 Complete!

This bathroom remodel has taken a few months to complete. Uh, wait a minute. I should correct that to YEARS! I just remembered that I posted the first phases of this multi-phase project some time ago. So I looked it up and it was in 2012! Here is a recap of what I posted back then.

Phase 1 - Remove and replace the old toilet and vinyl flooring.
Phase 2 - Sand off old wall texture and repaint walls with mottled look. Replace light fixture, towel rack, mirror, and shower curtain.

The old lilac bathroom

The textured wall was no fun to sand down.

All that work was completed in the fall of 2012. A year and several months later I finally decided to finish the job. I wanted to have a tile counter. I found some 6 inch tiles that were left over from the kitchen remodel several years ago. I also found some small brown glass tiles from my table resurfacing project. Kevin wanted an above counter vessel type sink so I found a number of beautiful brown glass sinks on line. Kevin found a sink and faucet combo and ordered it. As soon as the sink got here we started Phase 3.

Phase 3 - Remove and replace the old counter and sink. Refinish the oak cabinets with a darker stain.

This is the old finish and counter top.

Lots more sanding

This is the dark finish.

DONE!

The finished product. Finally.
